Mislay Me Not, Forget Me Not: David Hawkes and The Story of the Stone. Exhibition talks on 6 & 9 Oct 2023

The series spans from 6th to 9th October 2023, and features two exciting talks by Professor John Minford, Emeritus Professor of Chinese at the Australian National University:

1. "The David Hawkes Archive at CUHK Library". In this talk, Prof. Minford will describe some of the main items in the Archive and their unique history. 2. We would like to particularly highlight the second talk, "David Hawkes: The Art of Translation," co-organised by our society. In this session, Professor Minford will discuss some aspects of David Hawkes' approach to translation, drawing mainly on examples from the first 80 chapters of The Story of the Stone.
